Rodriguez ************** Except for Libertarian, Green, Socialist, and possibly "American Independent Party" I have no idea what the abbreviations might stand for. Roseanne Barr, if I remember correctly, knows all the words to the Star Spangled Banner and Cindy Sheehan is that nutcase who kept insisting on a personal audience with Dubya over the death of her son in combat, but the rest of these bozos? I do have some good feelings for the Stein-Honkala ticket because I think the Green Party has the right idea about everything, but the rest of these bozos? Who are they? And how did their names get on my Florida absentee ballot? 1 P.M. EDIT OK, Stevens and Link are running on the Objectivist Party ticket and presumably they've already seen "Atlas Shrugged, Part II" in one of the advance screenings that I wasn't invited to. Johnson and Gray, running as Libertarians, are a former governor of New Mexico and a California judge, respectively. Virgil Goode, a Democrat-turned-Republican from Virginia, is the Constitution Party candidate for prez. Jill Stein. Hmm, while I said I have some good feelings about Green Party candidates (I voted for Nader in 2000, which I ultimately regretted when I realized how much better Al Gore would have been, relative to Dubya), I don't like the fact that Dr. Stein and her running mate are taking votes away from President Obama. If Andre Barnett, running as the Reform Party candidate, gets any votes, they'll come from potential Romney supporters, so I don't hate him. Stewart Alexander, the Socialist Party candidate, will get few votes in Florida. I think he just likes running for president. Peta Lindsay's party, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, is frankly Leninist-Marxist, but don't worry. Peta is only 28 and constitutionally ineligible for the presidency, as is her running mate, who was born in Colombia. I commend this Slate article for your laugh-out-loud enjoyment. I certainly laughed. And speaking of laughter ... Sean Hannity does almost as poor a job of interviewing Roseanne Barr (who has some wacky but serious opinions to offer) as he does interviewing normal people. She's with the Peace and Freedom Party. And the American Independent Party candidate, Tom Hoefling, is NOT funny. And not worth linking. I'm serious. To conclude, and again, on a surprisingly serious note, Justice Party candidate Rocky Anderson is someone I like and agree with I thought I liked and agreed with. His Wikipedia page features these words: Formerly a member of the Democratic Party, Anderson expressed his disappointment with that Party in 2011,[17] stating, “The Constitution has been eviscerated while Democrats have stood by with nary a whimper. It is a gutless, unprincipled party, bought and paid for by the same interests that buy and pay for the Republican Party."[18] Anderson announced his intention to run for President in 2012 as a candidate for the newly-formed Justice Party.[19] That's OK as far as it goes, but then there's THIS SPEECH in which he badmouths my president, and he goes overboard in my opinion. I think it's just campaign rhetoric, but I don't like it. |
