Phil's No Phailure
There are three things in this life that are certain: death, taxes, and the fact that Phil Mickelson will thrill you and then break your heart.
It's annoying to hear so many sports reporters on the teevee knock Phil for failing to win the U.S. Open yesterday. Yes, Phil admitted he screwed up a couple of wedge shots on the back nine, and was guilty of a couple of three-putts on the front nine, but on a tough course like Merion, mistakes have to happen. Phil manned up and admitted he blew it, not wanting to make excuses, but I'LL SAY IT if he won't: he made a succession of wonderful putts Saturday AND Sunday and deserved to have AT LEAST 40% of them go in the hole. It was the golf gods that betrayed him. He has nothing to be ashamed about.
Kudos to the winner, Justin Rose, who richly deserved the trophy, and if Phil had had just a reasonable amount of fair results, Phil would have been the winner and Justin would have been an undeserving loser. Justin's a great player and I'm happy for him.

For golfing failure is an option and there is enough tournaments to support a lot of winners. I don't miss the days when certain champions dominate most of the courses.
He made an eagle on one of the holes on Sunday! It's not like he didn't win because he wanted to lose! He is such a wonderful person and such a great player. Right up to the last shot I was rooting for him. He is not a failure in my book.
As I don't know much about golf (although I have friends who play)...I will just say I've seen Phil on TV commercials...and in interviews...
He seems like a great man and player.
Oh, I have miniature golfed!
HUGS!!!
I rarely watch golf but it is instantly alluring when people know the people and are invested in the thrill of competition.

As you know, I don't follow golf as far as watching the tournaments; however, I do pay attention to sports reports on how players perform in golf as well as other sports. I like Phil and am happy for him when he wins. I also like it when others do well as Justin did and won the tournament. Another player's win this time does not make Phil a "phailure". Right now, I'm focused on the Rangers and they appear to be in an uncharacteristically long slump. I expect that they will come out of it and be winners. Although they have not yet won a pennant, they have done well and they aren't failures to me. ~~Blessings 'n Cheers
