An article worth reading.  Especially if you're young.  If you're old, like me, it explains why life is so tough.

  • Fascinating. I'm in a business (translating) that still requires a human to do it, although automated translators are getting better all the time. It helps that Spanish has many variations. But some translation jobs pay much less than they used to. I have colleagues who used to make good money working for Language Line. The people with those jobs now get $10 an hour or even less.

  • Yes, I think Tim is right: stay in a field in which the human being is irreplaceable.I read all the comments on this also. Reminds me of having to tell carpenters I was hiring about the transitory nature of the work I was offering. One candidate, from Viet Nam, seemed to particularly be disappointed that I couldn't promise steady work for at least ten years. Someone told me it was a cultural thing, but I never really found out it that was true.
