  • How American Politics Went Insane

    Go here:  http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/07/how-american-politics-went-insane/485570/

to read one of the best-written, most cogent, most inspiring articles I've ever read in a long time.

No pun intended, but it will make you sick.  Read it anyway, if you dare.

  • Scary stuff - I can see that the extrapolation is valid but so is the extrapolation of weather trends pointing to Florida being wiped off the land map. The question is scale and time. Sure Florida (and political party structure) may be eroded but there is the question of what can be done and will someone have the wherewithal to take action. Building awareness is the first step and the article helps in that respect...

  • @murisopsis: A solution is hard, no doubt. The article reminded me of so many things:
(1)As bad as the Mideast was before the Iraq war, at least dictators like Saddam Hussein used their iron hands to keep groups like ISIS from forming. (2) Those mandatory ethics classes, from kindergarten through college -- yes, it's a very long-term "solution" -- would result in a country populated by ethical citizens, and we wouldn't have the broken down political mess we now have. (3 through infinity) I can't remember the rest of the things the article reminded me of.
