Hate is self-poisoning.  If you find yourself in a hateful mood, it's more than likely that you need help.  Because you're poisoning yourself.

The last thing a person needs, if he's feeling hate, is a gun.  The last thing the world needs, is for that person to have his hands on a gun.  The world needs for that person to get help.

De-stigmatize mental illness.  We all need help, on occasion.  How do we will ourselves to get the help we need if it feels disgraceful to be mentally ill?

There are so many useful and easy things to do here.

    1.  If a politician is endorsed by the National Rifle Association(NRA), then vote against that person.  That's useful and easy to do.

    2.  Ban assault rifles.  What good are they?  That's useful and easy to do, if you're a congressman who's not bought and paid for by the NRA.  Do your job, congressman.

    3.  Put away the hate.  Do you really think you feel better when you're busy hating?  Read the story of the two wolves.  Then put away the hate.  I promise you'll feel better.

    4.  Read Edwin Markham's poem, "Outwitted."  You think that's hard to do?  It's easy to do.  And useful.  Here, I'll make it even easier for you to find it.  Here it is:

"He drew a circle to shut me out,
heretic rebel, a thing to flout.
But love and I had the wit to win,
we drew a circle that took him in."

    5.  Pay attention to what the churchgoers in Charleston did, after Dylan Roof did his nastiness.  That's easy to do.  And useful.

  • the job of the congressman is to protect and defend the constitution of the United States. that is part of his oath of office. if a congressman did as you suggest, he would have no choice but to resign, for he would be in violation of his oath of office. A politician who is endorsed by either the NRA or Gun Owners of America is entrusted to do the right thing concerning the rights of all Americans.

"Weapons are instruments of ill omen, despised by the Way of Heaven. To use them when unavoidable is the Way of Heaven."
    Tao Te Ching

Scrap #1 and #2 and you finally start on a path that leads in a good direction.

    • After reading up on the meaning of the Second Amendment, I can say to you that these mass murderers with easy access to AR-15s are obviously insane and therefore not “well-regulated.”

Which is the more probable danger: that you or your friends might be killed or injured in a Pulse-style attack, or that a supposedly tyrannical government will take away your guns and then enslave you?

  • Thank you for this strong post!!!

  • Wonderful sentiment.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some but for everyone

It isn't a Pollyanna approach but easy and useful!

  • @wordwarrior39: In covering the recent shooting deaths of Christy Sheats' two daughters, the Washington Post quoted this from Christy's Facebook page:

Christy Sheats wrote often online about her faith, and on several occasions she posted about her support of the Second Amendment and her right to bear arms.

“I have 10 guns. Obama wants 8 of my guns. How many guns do I have?” said one meme, over a photo of bullets and a gun. “That’s right, I have 10 guns.”

Are you ready to change your mind about the second amendment, and politicians who let themselves be owned by the NRA?
